A strategic technology plan is a specific type of strategy plan that lets an organization know where they are now and where they want to be some time in the future with regard to the technology and IT infrastructure in their organization's business environment.

 

A strategic plan often consists of the following items:

• Mission and vision statement

• Needs assessment

• Technology initiative descriptions, goal statement and rationale

• Objectives

• Hardware, software, and facilirty resource requirements

• Instructional resource requirements and staff development plans

• Itemized budget and rational, evaluation method and funding
