Network management is not only a critical networking service in the data communications field - it is a form of art. No company knows this better than MAI. As one of our core competencies, focused on for the majority of the last decade, MAI’s network management capabilities include the design of distributed network management systems, as well as selection, installation and integration of network management platforms.

True and effective monitoring, and all the advantages that follow, relies upon selecting the proper technical solution as well as a capable and efficient partner to help implement and manage it. It is critical for a managed solution to provide some or all of the following:

The monitoring and management of the network focuses on two major components of the network: the devices in the network, such as the routers, firewalls, CSU/DSUs, etc.; and the circuits that they pass data on (DDS, T1, DS-3, OC-x, etc.) It is critical to make sure that both are carefully managed by their respective management platforms. It is also important to note that no single product manages both devices AND circuits effectively, rather it is the combination of two or more network management products that creates an effective "suite" for network management. The trick here is to get a suite of products that perform their respective duties well and integrate seamlessly with each other, complementing the other products strengths and reducing the weaknesses of each. Success is found not in purchasing a single product that does only a few select tasks well, but focusing on a holistic approach, using a la carte methods to build a comprehensive solution.
